Policies and Procedures (inc General Equality Duty Assessments)
Lancashire Constabulary has a large number of policies and procedures in place which are managed by the Corporate Development department. All policies are subject to review every three years as a minimum. In addition each policy should have a general equality duty assessment completed.
A General Equality Duty Assessment enables us to meet our equality duties and identify active steps that we can take to promote equality through the risk assessment of our policies.
Carrying out a General Equality Duty Assessment involves systematically assessing the likely (or actual) effects of policies on people in respect of Age, Disability, Gender, Gender Reassignment, Marriage and Civil Partnership, Pregnancy and Maternity, Race (includes ethnic or national origins, colour and nationality religion or belief) and Sexual Orientation which are known as ‘Protected Characteristics’.
Lancashire Constabulary will complete a General Equality Duty Assessment when we are:
- Developing policies or Procedures
- Implementing Policies or Procedures
- Reviewing Policies or Procedures
- Setting Budgets
- Making Public Appointments
- Managing Premises
- Designing and Delivering Services
- Commissioning and Procuring Goods and Services
