Firearms application checklist
Before posting your application form please check it against this list to ensure it has been completed fully and accurately:
- Your personal details are completed
- Convictions (if any) entered
- GP details completed and signed
- Total firearms required to be possessed (including existing permissions)
- Good reason to possess/acquire firearms shown (firearm certificates only)
- Details of where firearms are to be used (firearm certificates only)
- Security section fully completed
- Does counter signatory meet required status?
- Has your counter signatory and/or referees known you for 2 years minimum?
- Referee forms given to referees to complete (firearm certificate only)
- If a shooting club member; is one of your referees a club official?
- Photographs (shotgun) 4 passport sized - one signed by you, one by your counter signatory
- Photographs (firearm) 4 passport sized - referees to endorse and sign one photo each, one to be signed by you.
- Photographs (coterminous) 8 passport sized - to be endorsed and signed as above for shotgun/ firearm photographs
- Additional sheets (land permission, club letter etc.) signed and dated
- Certificate (firearm only) included
- Cheque or postal orders for correct fee included and made payable to Lancashire Police Authority
- If you are applying for a coterminous application, have you completed both a firearm and shotgun application form with all the details above?
- Remember - scanned photographs are not acceptable
- Postage. Have you put enough postage on? It can take up to 4 weeks to be returned to you by the Post Office if undelivered!
