Gender
In order for Lancashire police to represent the communities we police, we need to be highly aware, reactive to change and proactive about applying ways to attract, develop and retain more of the best male and female talent from the whole spectrum of the communities we serve. A more diverse workforce will enhance our range of skills and creativity thanks to a wider mix of backgrounds and views.
Gender and Lancashire Constabulary
There has been massive progress in the last 10 years for the female employees of Lancashire police. However, despite the progress, women remain a minority group and are disproportionately under represented within both the ranks and specialisms. Just over a quarter of our serving officers are women. The really good news is that in the new intake of police officers in 2008, 50% of these were women. So whilst there is some way to go to balance the scales, we are on the right track.
The Gender Agenda seeks improvements for women who work in the police force.
