The 2001 census revealed that the UK today is more culturally diverse than ever before, with 4.6 million of us from a variety of visibly different backgrounds.

The different racial and ethnic groups that make up our population have many similar characteristics. However, there are often greater differences between individual ethnic groups than between the minority ethnic population as a whole and white British people.

The Blue Band Report
The Blue Band Report is the annual ethnicity monitoring report produced by the Lancashire Constabulary and the Lancashire Police Authority in an effort to monitor a range of indicators concerning ethnicity both in terms of service delivery to the public and also in terms of how black and minority ethnic employees are treated within the Constabulary.

The Blue Band Report reflects the Constabulary's commitment to openness and transparency in our relations with minority ethnic communities. It presents an overview of how we engage with our communities and it also allows communities to form and pose questions relating to the Constabulary's performance.
