1. Always treat you fairly with dignity and respect ensuring you have fair access to our services at a time that is reasonable and suitable for you.
This is at the heart of everything we are trying to achieve within Lancashire, linking into the Diversity Strategy, our Quality Counts program and ultimately the Ambition, to consistently be the best police force in the country.
2. Provide you with information so you know who your dedicated Neighbourhood Policing Team is, where they are based, how to contact them and how to work with them.
This is a key part of our Neighbourhood Policing programme - the way we conduct our core business. NHP teams across the force use posters to assist in the publication of the work they do supported by a web site that details those on the team and information the public may need.
3. Ensure your Neighbourhood Policing Team and other police patrols are visible and on your patch at times when they will be most effective and when you tell us you most need them. We will ensure your team are not taken away from neighbourhood business more than is absolutely necessary. They will spend at least 80% of their time visibly working in your neighbourhood, tackling your priorities. Staff turnover will be minimised.
Neighbourhood Policing within Lancashire is extremely well developed, with teams across the force working towards the priorities of their 'patch'. As part of the Pledge these abstractions must be kept to a minimum with officers working on the public's priorities at least 80% of the time.
Lancashire has been recognised for a number of years for the way it has developed Neighbourhood Policing and is currently the only force in the country to be 'exceeding the standard' as defined by the Home Office.
4. Respond to every message directed to your Neighbourhood Policing Team within 24 hours and, where necessary, provide a more detailed response as soon as we can.
Work is currently underway to ensure there is some consistency and standards around this and that there are appropriate back office processes in place to make sure this happens 24 / 7. Contact information is available for every team via this website and also by calling 0845 1 25 35 45.
5. Aim to answer 999 calls within 10 seconds, deploying to emergencies immediately giving an estimated time of arrival, getting to you safely, and as quickly as possible. In urban areas, we will aim to get to you within 15 minutes and in rural areas within 20 minutes.
This is a current performance indicator, with the force showing returns of over 90% in relation to 999 calls. The way the force handles calls through what it calls its PASS process is underway in an effort to further improve the service.
