Assistant Chief Constable People

Assistant Chief Constable Peter White joined Lancashire Constabulary in 1983 beginning his career in Preston. He has since policed in a variety of roles including geographic and operational policing in the county’s Southern Division and later Headquarters.
In 1999 he was promoted to Inspector at Chorley and a few years later had a short secondment to Government Office in Manchester where he was responsible for overseeing the national Communities Against Drugs initiative.

On his return to Lancashire, he was promoted to Chief Inspector at Southern Division with responsibility for Geographic and Neighbourhood Policing.

In 2005 he took command of the Motorway Unit, Mounted Branch and Firearms Training.

In 2006 he returned to Preston as the Operations Manager before being promoted to Chief Superintendent in 2007.

In 2009 he returned to Headquarters where he took a lead role in the Constabulary’s Organisational and Operational Review programme, in order to identify the savings required to meet the budget cuts brought about by the Government.

Now, as Assistant Chief Constable Peter has responsibility for the Constabulary’s People portfolio.
