SMS Emergency Text Messaging Service - 66247 For people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired
A SPECIAL number has been created for the new text messaging service, which has been set up to improve access to the county's Police and Fire services for people who are Deaf, hard of hearing or who have speech impairments.
The new facility is easy to use and enables people with hearing and speech impairments to ask for assistance in an emergency.
In an emergency, follow these simple steps to contact the police or fire service via text message.
Remember
- Your message must start with FIRE if you need the fire service.
- Your message must start with POLICE if you need the police service.

We cannot 100% guarantee that text messages will arrive straight away; it depends on the mobile phone networks and service providers.
If you do not receive a reply please try other ways to contact the Emergency Services.

- This service is only available in Lancashire, for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired.
- Misuse of the text service may result in prosecution.
- This service is ONLY to be used to report an emergency.
- Sending or replying to a Lancashire Constabulary SMS (Text) 66247 message will be charged at your standard SMS rate. Mobile providers charges may vary.
- The 66247 SMS service is only available within the United Kingdom.
