What is a stranger?

A stranger is someone you don't know.

They can be young or old, male or female and will most probably be someone who you've not met before. They might even know your name but if you don't know them then they are a stranger to you. A stranger won't look any different to anybody else and you won't know if that stranger is a good person or a bad person so it's sensible to follow our top tips to make sure you stay safe.
Top Tips

* ALWAYS say NO to strangers. Never talk to or go with a stranger no matter how much you want to, even if the stranger gives you sweets or presents or tells you that your parents have given them permission. Shout "NO" as loud as you can and go back into the house or school.
* Tell you or the person looking after you that you've been approached by a stranger straight away
* If you are out shopping and you get lost from whoever looks after you, you should try and find a safe person. These could be a Police Officer, a traffic warden, a shop keeper, a security guard in a shopping centre or someone you know.
* NEVER tell a stranger your name or address.
* ALWAYS tell the person looking after you before you go anywhere even if it's just to the shops or to the park to play
