Highways and helping to make our roads safer outside schools
We did:
The team have been working with the Road Policing Unit to reduce speeding in the area and also with Parkwise to address parents parking on double yellow lines near to school.
As a result:
Speed monitoring has been undertaken and it was found that drivers are doing approx. 30 mph outside school which appears fast, maybe a 20 mph limit would be a safer limit. The new County Councillor, Tim Ashton, will visit during the morning commute/school drop-off time so that he can fully appreciate the current dangers/problems that are experienced by residents on a daily basis. Alongside this, Langdale Road and the junction of Ridge Lane and Bulk Road will also be discussed with possible junction improvement works to increase pedestrian safety.

Canal drinkers
We did:
The Neighbourhood policing team have continued to patrol the areas along the canal throughout the summer. There are still a few areas where canal drinking is apparent and residents in the area are encouraged to ring the Police to report any further incidents.
As a result:
There has been a decrease in the number of street drinking incidents and the Neighbourhood team will continue to patrol this area to continue reassurance in the area. It has been noted that there are various signage along the canal that need improving/repairing. The relevant people will be contacted to improve this.
