Find out what we have been doing in the last month -

The neighbourhood policing teams have recently received comments from members of the public regarding officers using their mobile phones whilst out patrolling, instead of concentrating on speeding cars for example. In order to address this issue the neighbourhood teams would like to explain why they use phones whilst on patrol.

All neighbourhood teams in Lancashire have been issued with PDA’s, these look like telephone but are essentially hand held computers. The officers can use the PDA to carry out their police work without having to spend time at the police station. This is in line with the national policing pledge which expects officers to spend 80% of their time out on their beat, being visible and accessible to the community they serve. PDA’s are an important addition, but by no means distracts the officers from their work or their level of concentration whilst patrolling.

If you would like any further information regarding this issue please contact the Ormskirk neighbourhood office on 01695 566444.
