Find out what we have been doing in the last month -

Priority 1

You said : Youths causing Anti social behaviour on Clancutt Lane and the bridge.

We did : Encourage residents to call the police when youths were in the area at the February PACT meeting. High visibility patrols conducted through the month of February and dealt with youths in the area. A number of Youth Referrals issued and Direction to Leave Notices handed out to youths caught misbehaving in the area.

As a result : There has been a reduction in calls from residents, since a problem weekend when a number of cars & residents property were damaged. Youths congregating in that area has now decreased. However, the area will still be patrolled as part of our patrol plan.

Priority 2

You said : HGV vehicles using Coppull country lanes and speeding.

We did : Ask that residents contact police with details at the January PACT meeting. High visibility patrolling has continued with a request made for the local traffic department to attend the area. Also the mobile speed camera has been requested.

As a result : There has been a reduction in calls to the Police. Issues were raised at the PACT meeting. The area will still be patrolled as part of our patrol plan and a long term solution to be sought by way of calming traffic measures. Still kept as a PACT priority for the month of March.

Priority 3

You said : Complaints received from Coppull residents at the PACT meeting that cycle users are not using lights on bicycles in the evenings.

We did : Encourage residents to contact the police with any details. A number of youths were stopped throughout the month of February. Education on safer cycling to be implemented at local primary schools and an forthcoming open day at the library.

As a result : No reports throughout the month of February. Youths stopped during the months have now got some form of lighting on pedal cycles. Patrolling throughout the village during the evening people especially younger kids more aware that lights needed.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE RESULTS ARE :

• 1 male arrested for Cannabis cultivation in the village. Plants inside the address have since been destroyed and drug activity disrupted.

• 1 offender arrested and charged for a shoplifting incident at
co-op.

• Restorative Justice done with local youth causing Anti Social Behaviour on Arcon Road.

Issues of Note :

A handful of local youths from Coppull had the pleasure of visiting a local prison. This was aimed at educating the youths about life inside the prison and speaking to prisoners first hand about their crimes and how it has affected them, their families and their future. This was the first visit of its kind and was very successful. All the youths have given very good positive feedback outlining that it was educational and yet interesting.

Funding has been obtained from the young peoples service for football to be run on a Friday evenings between 8pm and 1-pm. This is being run by a company called Freestyle-Urban-Soccer. The aim is to engage local youths with an activity that is interesting to them and competitive at the same time during one of our busy periods for Anti Social Behaviour.. This starts on Friday 12th March and will run for six weeks.
