Operation Focus is a safety campaign which falls under Nightsafe our alcohol related harm initiative.

Running until the end of August the campaign backed by pubs, clubs and Nightsafe partners aims to reduce the chances of people becoming victims of sexual assault as a result of excessive alcohol consumption.

During the campaign we will be educating people about safe drinking limits and urging them to consider the consequences of their actions. By drinking to excess people are less able to ensure their personal safety and may become a victim of crime as a result.

In addition to this education we are encouraging people to report incidents of sexual assault to the police. Those reporting such incidents will be treated with compassion and every effort possible will be made to trace and arrest those responsible.

As well as high visibility patrols we will be educating people through:

• The distribution of posters and Bluetooth messages
• Broadcast of a DVD on large screens throughout town centre venues
• A radio campaign targeted at people before they go out on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night
