Outreach Work
The Minority Recruitment Team have built up good links with a number of partner community organisations, including community and youth centres and also religious organisations. The team makes regular visits to such organisations to promote Lancashire Constabulary. In addition the team works with partners to address the barriers which prevent minority groups from applying to the police, as well as developing solutions to remove these barriers.
For many applicants from minority ethnic groups, family pressure can sometimes be a barrier to applying, so instead of focusing solely on recruitment, the team has also started to visit other community groups involving older members from the community to promote the Constabulary in the hope that members of the communities will be more supportive to younger members of their family who may be considering a career with the police service.
