Lancashire Talking
Launched in 2020, Lancashire Talking is our major initiative that aims to understand the needs of our local communities.
A key priority of our Neighbourhood Policing teams, Lancashire Talking enables you to share any concerns with our officers.
We’ve knocked on thousands of doors to date, and many people have also taken part in the survey online, with our aim being to hear the views of every single household across Lancashire.
What we want to know
We want to know what it’s like to live in your area - what the issues you face are and how can we work with others to make our communities safer and stronger.
Why we want to know this
As part of our commitment to keeping Lancashire a safe place to live, work and visit, we’ve been investing in Neighbourhood Policing teams across the county.
With this investment, we want to be sure that we’re tackling the things that matter most to those we serve – you. You know your local area better than anyone.
Our neighbourhood officers are fully aware of the impact local problems can cause. They are committed to listening to your concerns and to addressing the issues that will make a difference to your daily lives.
How to get involved
If one of our officers or PCSOs knocks at your door, please spare a few minutes to talk to them. Alternatively, you can have your say online through our In The Know service.
Members of this community messaging system will then receive updates from their Neighbourhood Policing team about the action taken based on the feedback we receive.

How it works
Lancashire Talking is a doorstep chat between you and our officers. You’ll be asked some key questions which should take no more than ten minutes.
There's no obligation to take part. However, we would encourage you to do so to enable you to have your say and help drive aspects of Neighbourhood Policing in your area. Working in this way creates a personalised policing response by area and enables better outcomes for local people, meaning we can target our activity and problem solving more effectively.
The information we gather from your participation in Lancashire Talking will help us improve the area where you live, identify vulnerabilities and help others.
This is also an opportunity for you to make a difference in your own communities. By actively letting us know what your concerns are, we and our partners can actively help you to make a change where you live.
At the touch of a button our officers can use the data collected on a daily basis to pinpoint exactly what and where the issues are – whether that be a street, a school, a shop, or a park – and address those issues along with the council and our other partner agencies.
When you take part in the survey, you’ll be asked if you’d like to become a member of In The Know, our community messaging system. Members of In The Know will then receive updates directly into their inbox from their Neighbourhood Policing Team about the action taken based on the feedback we receive.
