We are appealing for witnesses after two women were seriously injured in a collision in Blackburn.
We were called at around 9:05pm last night (March 13th) following a report of a serious collision on Darwen Road at the junction with Mincing Lane, Blackburn.
A black Suzuki SX4 overturned and collided with a building causing significant damage to both the vehicle and the building. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene to rescue the two trapped occupants.
The driver, a 55 year-old woman from Blackburn, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition. The passenger, a 20 year-old woman suffered a back injury.
It is not thought that any other vehicles were involved.
The road was closed for four hours whilst an investigation took place.
Sgt Marc Glass from the Road Policing Unit said: “Two women from Blackburn have been seriously injured and my thoughts are with them at this difficult time. They, along with their families, are being supported by specially trained officers.
“I am asking anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken with police to come forward. You can call us on 101 quoting log reference 1406 of March 13th.”
