Man charged after shooting at caravan site

Detectives investigating a shooting at a caravan site in Clayton Le Dale, have charged a man.

Police were called to Longsight Road, just after 9pm on May 14th, to reports a man had been shot with an air rifle.

Emergency services attended and found the victim, a man in his 60s, with a pellet lodged in his armpit.

After leaving the scene of the initial incident, the offender was seen threatening nearby members of the public with an air rifle. He also drove his van into a number of vehicles causing excessive damage, before he was later arrested.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service Thomas Beard junior, 37, from Blackburn, has been charged with criminal damage, ABH, possession of a firearm and threats to kill.

He was remanded to appear at Preston Crown Court on June 18th.
