We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision today (Friday, February 3).
We were called around 5.35am to the A59 Myerscough Smithy Road, close to BAE Samlesbury, after a report of a two-vehicle collision between a Ford Focus car and a Citroen Dispatch van.
Emergency services attended with a man in his 50s from Burnley, the driver of the Ford, found unresponsive. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The driver of the van, a man in his 30s from Blackburn, suffered minor injuries.
We are appealing for witnesses and urging anyone with dashboard mounted camera footage to come forward.
Sgt Daniel Gunn, of Lancashire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “These are very sad and tragic circumstances and our thoughts are with the man’s family at this time.
“We are appealing for information and urging any witnesses, who have yet to speak to police, to come forward.
“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone with dashcam footage of the incident.
“If you can help us, call 101 or email [email protected] quoting log 0173 of February 3.”
