Sorry, there was a technical problem. Please try again.
This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
We'd like to make you aware that there is currently a significant delay in the processing of new shotgun and firearm certificate grant applications. At present, applications are taking approximately 14 months to complete.
The delay is the result of recent Home Office guidance and the introduction of enhanced vetting requirements. This has increased the level of checks that must be undertaken before certificates can be granted.
We appreciate that this waiting period may be frustrating and apologise for any inconvenience caused. However, these measures are necessary to ensure that all applications are assessed thoroughly and in accordance with national standards and public safety requirements.
You're encouraged to submit applications as early as possible and to ensure that all required documentation is provided. This will help to avoid any additional delays.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while these enhanced processes are carried out.
