    Road Safety

    Issued 01 April 2026

    Action taken:

    Keeping Wyre’s Roads Safe

Making our roads safer for everyone is a key focus for the Wyre Neighbourhood Policing Team. We’re working hard to tackle behaviours that put lives at risk, and your support plays a big part in that.

    Speeding
If speeding is an issue where you live, you can report it online through the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership. When concerns are raised, we may carry out Community Road Watch sessions or run targeted speed enforcement in problem areas.

    School Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We understand how worrying unsafe driving and parking outside schools can be for parents and local residents. Our officers regularly visit schools to promote safe behaviour, share advice through schools and social media, and work closely with Wyre Borough Council’s Parking Enforcement team to deal with persistent problems.

    Anti-Social Driving & Drink/Drug Driving
Dangerous or irresponsible driving has no place on our roads. We continue to carry out focused patrols and enforcement operations to keep our communities protected.

    How You Can Help
If you see dangerous driving or parking, please report it via the Lancashire Police website or speak directly with your local neighbourhood officers.
Together, we can help make Wyre’s roads safer for everyone.

    Parking

    Issued 01 April 2026

Parking in Wyre – What You Need to Know

Parking problems are one of the issues we hear about most often from residents across Wyre. We understand the frustration they cause. Inconsiderate or unsafe parking can block access for emergency services, create hazards for pedestrians, and put children at particular risk.
What are we doing to tackle it?
    • We regularly visit schools and busy areas to address unsafe parking.
    • We work closely with Wyre Borough Council’s Parking Enforcement team to deal with persistent issues.
    • We share safety messages through schools, social media, and community engagement to help educate drivers.
    • We carry out targeted operations in areas where parking problems are repeatedly reported.

    How you can help
You can report ongoing, unsafe, or dangerous parking using the following:
    • Online: Single Online Home at https://www.lancashire.police.uk
    • By phone: Call 101 for non-emergencies
    • In an emergency: Dial 999 if a vehicle is causing immediate danger

When reporting, please include as much detail as possible—location, time, vehicle description, and registration number all help us take effective action. You can also speak to your local neighbourhood officers if the issue is ongoing.
Parking might seem like a small matter, but it has a big impact on safety and community wellbeing. By working together, we can help keep Wyre’s roads and neighbourhoods safe.

    Let’s encourage responsible parking—for everyone’s benefit.

    Highway Obstruction

    Issued 01 April 2026

    Action taken:

Highway Obstructions – Keeping Wyre Moving Safely
Highway obstructions are a regular concern for residents across Wyre. Whether it’s overgrown hedges, abandoned items, builders’ materials, or vehicles blocking the road or pavement, these issues can create real hazards and disrupt daily life. Obstructions don’t just inconvenience drivers — they can be dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists, and those with mobility needs.

What are we doing to tackle it?
    • We regularly patrol areas where obstructions are frequently reported.
    • We work closely with Lancashire County Council Highways to ensure hazards such as fallen branches, damaged signs, or debris are dealt with quickly.
    • We speak with residents and local businesses where items placed on pavements or roads may be causing access issues.
    • We act when vehicles are blocking pavements, junctions, or creating safety risks, offering advice or taking enforcement action where appropriate.

    How you can help
You can report highway obstructions through:
    • Lancashire County Council’s online reporting system (Highways)
    • The Lancashire Police website for obstructions causing immediate danger
    • Calling 101 for non emergencies
    • Dialling 999 if the obstruction poses a significant and immediate risk to life

Providing clear details — location, description of the obstruction, and any relevant photos — helps the right agency respond more quickly.
Highway obstructions may seem minor at first, but they can have a big impact on road safety, access, and quality of life for local residents. By working together and reporting issues when they arise, we can help keep Wyre’s roads and pathways safe and accessible for everyone.

Let’s keep Wyre moving — safely and responsibly.
