New appeal in Lenny Scott murder

Tuesday, February 27, 2024

Our officers continue to make progress in their investigation into the murder of Lenny Scott in Skelmersdale and we wanted to let you know how you can help them.

You will previously remember that we released a map showing an area of Skelmersdale and specifically asked if you had CCTV or dashcam footage from that area.

From our ongoing enquiries we now know the gunman left the murder scene outside the gym on Peel Road on an e-bike and headed towards Digmoor in Skelmersdale and then onto Upholland.

That is why we are asking the public to look at the attached map and get in contact with us if they have CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage from the areas highlighted in grey. The specific times our investigation team need footage from is between 5.30pm and 8pm on Thursday, 8th February.

Just to remind you, we launched a murder investigation after 33-year-old father-of-three Lenny was shot outside a gym on Peel Road in Skelmersdale on Thursday, 8th February.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Lenny, from Prescot, sadly died later in hospital. Our thoughts remain with his loved ones, and they continue to be supported by trained officers.

So far we have arrested four people- all from Liverpool – as part of our investigation. A 34-year-old man and a 25-year-old man on suspicion of murder, a 37-year-old man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and a 27-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have all since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

We have a large investigation team assigned to this case, who are carrying out enquiries throughout the North-West to identify all those involved in Lenny’s murder and bring them to justice. We have looked through hundreds of hours of CCTV footage as we piece together a full picture of what happened in the hours, days and weeks before and after Lenny’s murder.

Detective Supt Gareth Willis, our Head of Major Crime, said: “This is a fast-moving investigation and while we have now arrested four men our dedicated investigation team continue to work tirelessly to identify all those responsible for this abhorrent assassination.

“We know that there are people out there who know why this much-loved father-of-three was killed and who was involved. I am appealing directly to them to do the right thing by Lenny’s family and come forward.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank all those people who have come forward with information and footage so far and appeal to anyone who has still not been in contact with us to do so as soon as possible. You might have the key piece of information which takes a cold-blooded killer off the streets.”
