A Truly ‘Groundbreaking’ Day!

Tuesday, March 5, 2024

Today (Tuesday 5th March), Chief Constable Sacha Hatchett and Superintendent Derry Crorken were accompanied by Police and Crime Commissioner Andrew Snowden and members of the Constabulary’s Estates Team to ‘break ground’ at the site of a brand new, state-of-the-art police station in Pendle.

The day signaled the start of construction work at the site, which is on Carr Road in Nelson. The location will offer a much improved working environment and quick links to the M65 motorway, town centers and surrounding areas.

Willmott Dixon have been chosen to deliver the new station and aim to have the site operational within the next two years. Alongside housing our response and neighbourhood policing teams, it will also be a base for local investigators, targeting teams and more, in addition to a public front counter.

The new station will replace the now somewhat-dated stations in Colne and Nelson, giving our officers the resources and space they need to keep the community safe.

Chief Constable Sacha Hatchett said:

“This is a hugely exciting project and will allow our officers and staff in Pendle to better serve the local community for years to come, and enable us to meet the demands of modern policing. Based in the heart of Pendle, this new station will be accessible to those living in Nelson as well as further afield in Brierfield and Colne

“A special thanks must go to our estates team, who have worked tirelessly to ensure this project runs smoothly, despite setbacks from Covid-19. Without their dedication and hard work, we wouldn't have such developments to look forward to.”
