Three charged with murder following death of man in Blackburn

Tuesday, June 24, 2025

Three people have been charged as our investigation into the death of Paul Scott continues.

At 3:40am on 22nd June, we received a report from the ambulance service that a man was unresponsive at an address on Peridot Close in Blackburn. Very sadly, 37-year-old Paul Scott (pictured below) was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts remain with his loved ones, who are being supported by specially trained officers.

A Home Office Post Mortem examination concluded that Paul died from a single stab wound.

This is being treated as an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the wider public. You will still see our officers in the Peridot Close area as they conduct enquiries.

A 24-year-old man, a 43-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman were all arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday morning.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Liam Donlin, 24, of Lynwood Avenue, Darwen, Joanne Maxwell, 43, of Lynwood Avenue, Darwen and Amie Clegg, 21, of Lynwood Avenue, Darwen have all been charged with murder. They have been remanded to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court tomorrow (25th June).

DCI John McNamara, of our Force Major Investigation Team said: “First and foremost, my, and my team’s thoughts remain with Paul’s family and loved ones at what is an incredibly difficult time.

“Three people have now been charged with murder in connection with Paul’s death, but our investigation is very much ongoing.

"If you saw anything or have any footage that you believe could help our enquiries, even if you think it is insignificant, please do the responsible thing and get in touch.”
