Prolific Preston shoplifter jailed and banned from City Centre Shops

A prolific shoplifter who targeted stores across Preston has been jailed and issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Leroy Colecozy stole candles and fragrances from Next on Fishergate last month.

On Tuesday, (6th May 2025), he appeared at Preston Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to theft and was jailed for 16 weeks.

Colecozy, 51, of Great Avenham Street, Preston, was also issued with a four-year Criminal Behaviour Order which prevents him from entering the following places:

·         Queens Retails Park, Preston

·         Capitol Centre, Preston

·         St George’s Centre, Preston

·         B&M Ribbleton Lanne, Preston

·         Tesco, Fishergate, Preston

·         Any city centre shop.

Operation Vulture is Lancashire Constabulary’s response to shoplifting across the county, backed by Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

The operation sees dedicated officers undertaking hotspot patrolling, increasing their visibility in targeted areas and creating strong partnerships with retailers across the county to better share intelligence, get a deeper understanding of retail crime and identify more offenders.
